"Quand Tout Prend Forme" (When Everything Takes Shape), 2018, is a living collage project that sources images from a past project, "The Art Lies in the Ritual," 2016. "The Art Lies in the Ritual," series manifested as a result of meditative practices in self-awareness, aligning the Self with Spirit and embracing liberation in skin, identity and sexuality. Bypassing conscious thought, these images were created using photographic automatism. In "Quand Tout Prend Forme," the images are placed at sites of heavy contemplation and memory, in and around Washington Park, Chicago, IL. These areas are where I've made my routine pathing from work, to the grocery store to the El on King Drive to the lagoon where I found refuge when I lived there. Each of these places hold a piece of me and the memories that spring up when I inhale the air around there. Each site feels like a liminal space I share with only myself and the previous versions of me that congregate to relive peaceful moments . At once offering and ode to my past Selves, these cutouts are immersed in environments that mirror the persistence of Spirit and captivating life.
